Description: Knowingly refusing to comply with lawful commands, physical restraint, or attempts at detention by an identifiable peace officer. This includes fleeing, physically resisting, or obstructing the officer’s ability to make an arrest or conduct a lawful detention.

Fine: $200

Sentence: 20 months

Note: Cannot be stacked with Disobeying a Police Officer

Examples of Offenses:

• Actively pulling away or struggling while being handcuffed.

• Fleeing on foot during a traffic stop or police interaction.

• Locking vehicle doors or driving away while an officer is attempting to detain you.
