General Information

The District Attorney’s Office (DA’s Office) is a division of the San Andreas Department of Justice, responsible for prosecuting criminal cases on behalf of the State of San Andreas.

The DA’s Office represents the State in all criminal proceedings and ensures justice is served through fair, ethical, and transparent prosecution. Its primary duties include filing charges, presenting evidence, advising law enforcement during investigations, and recommending sentencing when appropriate.

Prosecutors within the DA’s Office also possess the authority to:

  • Conduct and oversee criminal investigations.

  • Grant immunity to witnesses or cooperating defendants.

  • Negotiate plea agreements.

  • File and manage subpoenas or search warrants in accordance with the law.

Chain of Command

Attorney General

The Attorney General oversees the overall direction and integrity of the District Attorney’s Office. The Attorney General holds authority over the appointment of the District Attorney, ensuring leadership remains consistent with state law and policy. Once appointed, the District Attorney maintains operational independence to manage the department without interference in daily casework or prosecutorial decisions.

District Attorney (DA)

The District Attorney serves as the chief prosecutor for the State of San Andreas. The DA is responsible for the administration, supervision, and leadership of the department. They manage all prosecutions, assign cases to their team, and personally handle high-profile or complex cases that significantly impact the state.

Deputy District Attorneys (DDAs)

Deputy District Attorneys assist in departmental leadership and policy enforcement. DDAs may oversee specific jurisdictions such as Los Santos County or Blaine County, ensuring consistent application of law and prosecutorial standards across all regions. They serve as advisors to the District Attorney and coordinate prosecutorial efforts between offices.

Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) & Prosecutors

Assistant District Attorneys and Prosecutors represent the State in criminal cases. They handle investigations, prepare and present evidence, question witnesses, and argue cases in court. Prosecutors may be promoted to Assistant District Attorney in recognition of their dedication, legal expertise, and professional conduct.

Their duties include:

  • Investigating criminal activity in cooperation with law enforcement.

  • Drafting and submitting legal documents, subpoenas, and warrants.

  • Filing formal criminal charges.

  • Negotiating plea agreements when in the best interest of justice.

  • Granting immunity to cooperating witnesses when authorized.

Paralegals & Administrative Assistants

Paralegals

  • support attorneys by preparing and submitting case files, legal documents, subpoenas, and warrants. They ensure all case materials are accurate and properly filed with the court.

Administrative Assistants

  • provide organizational and clerical support to the District Attorney’s Office, ensuring smooth communication and efficient workflow throughout the department.
